Meletis Charlatan zou nuttig zijn in een controle- of tempodeck dat zich richt op het verstoren van het spelplan van de tegenstander door zijn belangrijkste instant- of tovenarij-spreuken te kopiëren. Hoewel het een unieke vaardigheid biedt, kan het worden overtroffen door kaarten als Clever Impersonator of Phyrexian Metamorph, die meer veelzijdigheid en waarde bieden. Of Meletis Charlatan het spel moet zien, hangt af van de specifieke strategie en de kaartenpool van het kaartspel, omdat er mogelijk betere opties beschikbaar zijn om dezelfde doelen te bereiken.

Meletis Charlatan’s ability can target any instant or sorcery spell, not just one with targets and not just one that you control.

The copy will have the same targets as the spell it’s copying unless its controller chooses new ones. That player may change any number of the targets, including all of them or none of them. If, for one of the targets, that player can’t choose a new legal target, then it remains unchanged (even if the current target is illegal).
