About Firebreather PFL 89
Firebreather PFL 89, Trainer - supporter, designed by Naoki Saito first released in Dec, 2025 in the set Phantasmal Flames.
Firebreather PFL 89 would fit best in a dedicated Fire-type deck that relies heavily on Basic Fire Energy and wants to stockpile Energy in hand for effects that discard or attach multiple Fire Energy at once—such as decks built around high-cost Fire attackers or cards that convert Fire Energy in hand into damage or acceleration. However, as a Supporter, it is generally inefficient because it only adds Energy to hand without accelerating them to the field, making it slow compared to stronger options like Professor’s Research or Iono for draw power, or Fire-specific accelerators like Blacksmith (which attaches Fire Energy from the discard), Magma Basin (which accelerates from discard), or Energy Retrieval/Super Rod for recovery without using your Supporter for the turn. Since competitive Fire decks prefer direct Energy acceleration or stronger draw Supporters, Firebreather would rarely see serious play and would mostly be limited to casual or very niche Energy-heavy Fire builds.
