About Settle the Score

Settle the Score, Sorcery, designed by Yongjae Choi first released in Apr, 2018 in the set Dominaria and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

A deck that focuses on planeswalkers and controlling the board would benefit from using Settle the Score in Magic: The Gathering. It provides removal for a creature while also increasing loyalty counters on a planeswalker, which can be crucial for protecting and using their abilities effectively. While there may be more efficient removal spells available, Settle the Score can be a valuable inclusion in decks looking to maximize planeswalker synergy and control strategies.

Rules

04/27/18

If the target creature is an illegal target by the time Settle the Score tries to resolve, the spell doesn’t resolve. You won’t put loyalty counters on a planeswalker.

04/27/18

You don’t choose which planeswalker receives loyalty counters until Settle the Score resolves. If you don’t control a planeswalker, you’ll simply exile the target creature and not put loyalty counters on anything.
