The Jwar Isle Avenger would be beneficial in a tempo or control deck that aims to cast multiple spells in a turn to take advantage of its surge ability. While it provides a decent flying threat, there are potentially better options for the same mana cost in competitive Magic: the Gathering formats, such as Snapcaster Mage or Vendilion Clique. However, in a limited or casual setting, the Avenger could still see play as a versatile and evasive creature.
