About Dead of Winter

Dead of Winter, Sorcery, designed by Zack Stella first released in May, 2019 in the set Modern Horizons.

This card, Dead of Winter, would be most beneficial in a deck that focuses on snow permanents, as the more snow permanents you control, the more powerful its effect becomes. Decks that heavily feature snow lands and snow creatures would maximize the potential of this card. However, there are better options for board wipes in competitive Magic: the Gathering formats, such as Damnation or Wrath of God, which have more universal and consistent effects. Dead of Winter could see play in niche snow-themed decks, but may not be a top choice in more competitive or diverse metagames.

Rules

06/14/19

The value of X is determined only as Dead of Winter begins to resolve. It won’t change later in the turn if the number of snow permanents you control changes.
