About Cuboid Colony

Cuboid Colony, Creature — insect, designed by Alexandre Honoré first released in Mar, 2026 in the set Secrets of Strixhaven.

Cuboid Colony would fit best in a Simic (G/U) tempo or spells-matter deck that can reliably cast higher-cost spells to trigger Increment, ideally in formats where you can chain card draw, ramp, or interaction at instant speed to grow it quickly; Flash plus Flying and trample makes it a flexible threat for reactive midrange or tempo shells that hold up mana. However, compared to real cards like **Managorger Hydra** (which grows on any spell cast by any player), **Sprite Dragon** (cheap, evasive, and grows off noncreature spells), or **Ledger Shredder** (card selection plus scaling), Cuboid Colony is likely weaker unless its base stats are already efficient for its cost, since Increment is more restrictive and requires higher mana investment rather than just spell volume. It could see play if costed aggressively (e.g., 2 mana with solid base stats), but in most competitive environments there are more efficient, proven threats that scale more reliably.
