This card, Resolute Watchdog, would be beneficial in a deck focused on protecting key creatures or building a defensive strategy, especially in a White-based deck. While it provides a useful ability to grant indestructible to a creature, there are potentially better options like Selfless Spirit or Dauntless Bodyguard that offer similar protection with additional benefits. However, Resolute Watchdog could still see play in certain decks looking for a budget-friendly option or additional redundancy in their protection suite.

Resolute Watchdog can be the target of its own ability. The ability won’t resolve since it won’t have a legal target, and no creature will gain indestructible, but this does allow you to sacrifice Resolute Watchdog without another creature to target if you want to.
