Martelaarziel, Schepsel – geest-soldaat, designed by Mila Pesic first released in May, 2019 in the set Modern Horizons and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.
Een kaartspel dat zich richt op wezenfiches en wezens die mana aftappen, zou baat hebben bij het opnemen van Martyr's Soul, omdat het efficiënt kan worden uitgebracht met convoke en het slagveld kan betreden als een potentieel krachtig wezen met +1/+1 counters. Er zijn echter mogelijk betere opties voor vergelijkbare effecten in het wit, zoals Benalish Marshal, dat een statisch anthem-effect geeft aan alle wezens, of Adanto Vanguard, dat een veerkrachtige en agressieve dreiging biedt. Of Martyr's Soul spel ziet, hangt af van de specifieke strategie en synergieën van het betreffende kaartspel.

When calculating a spell’s total cost, include any alternative costs, additional costs, or anything else that increases or reduces the cost to cast the spell. Convoke applies after the total cost is calculated. Convoke doesn’t change a spell’s mana cost or converted mana cost.

If you control any tapped lands as Martyr’s Soul enters the battlefield, its last ability doesn’t trigger at all. If you control any tapped lands as the ability resolves, you won’t put two +1/+1 counters on Martyr’s Soul.
