De King of the Pride-kaart zou nuttig zijn in een Cat-stamkaartspel in Magic: the Gathering, omdat deze een aanzienlijke kracht- en robuustheidsboost geeft aan andere Cat-wezens die je bestuurt. Er zijn echter betere kaarten voor dit type kaartspel, zoals Regal Caracal, die niet alleen Cats een boost geeft, maar ook Cat-tokens creëert. King of the Pride zou het spelen in een Cat tribal-deck nog steeds kunnen zien als een solide ondersteuningskaart, maar is misschien geen topkeuze vergeleken met andere beschikbare opties.
