Een controledeck gericht op borddoekjes en kaartvoordeel zou baat hebben bij het gebruik van Decree of Pain, omdat het een krachtig massaverwijderingseffect biedt en tegelijkertijd kaarten trekt. Er zijn echter betere opties zoals Damnation of Wrath of God die vergelijkbare effecten bieden tegen lagere kosten, waardoor Decreet of Pain in de meeste scenario's minder efficiënt wordt. Er zou gespeeld kunnen worden in meer casual of budgetdecks waar de toegang tot die betere opties beperkt is.

Cycling is an activated ability. Effects that interact with activated abilities (such as Stifle or Rings of Brighthearth) will interact with cycling. Effects that interact with spells (such as Remove Soul or Faerie Tauntings) will not.

The cycling ability and the triggered ability are separate. If the triggered ability doesn’t resolve (due to being countered with Stifle, for example, or if all its targets have become illegal), the cycling ability will still resolve and you’ll draw a card.
