About Thoughts of Ruin

Thoughts of Ruin, Sorcery, designed by John Avon first released in Jun, 2005 in the set Saviors of Kamigawa.

A deck that focuses on hand advantage and resource denial would benefit from using Thoughts of Ruin, such as a control or stax deck. However, there are better cards for similar effects like Smallpox or Pox, which have a broader impact on the game by also forcing players to sacrifice creatures and/or discard cards. Thoughts of Ruin could see play in specific strategies that heavily rely on land destruction, but overall, there are more versatile options available in Magic: the Gathering.
