About Additive Evolution
Additive Evolution, Enchantment, designed by Josiah "Jo" Cameron first released in Apr, 2026 in the set Secrets of Strixhaven.
Additive Evolution would fit best in a green-based +1/+1 counters or Simic (blue-green) midrange deck that wants repeatable counter growth and values long-term board development, especially alongside cards that care about counters like Hardened Scales, Branching Evolution, Conclave Mentor (if splashing white), or creatures with trample or other scaling abilities; however, at five mana for an enchantment that makes only a 3/3 initially and provides just one counter per combat, it is relatively slow compared to stronger options like The Ozolith (for counter value retention), Invigorating Surge (for explosive growth), Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider (for doubling counters), or even standalone threats like Elder Gargaroth that immediately impact the board, so while it could function in casual or slower synergy-driven builds, it would likely be too underpowered for competitive formats unless the metagame strongly rewards incremental counter engines.
