About Ambipom PFL 79

Ambipom PFL 79, Pokémon - stage 1, designed by hncl first released in Dec, 2025 in the set Phantasmal Flames.

Ambipom PFL 79 would fit best in a fast, Colorless-focused deck that can accelerate or recycle Energy easily, since its **Dual Tail** attack requires discarding 2 Energy and works best when you can repeatedly power it up—decks built around Double Colorless Energy (in Expanded) or strong basic Energy acceleration could support it. Its niche is spreading 60 damage to two targets, which can pressure low-HP Bench-sitters and set up knockouts, but the discard cost for relatively modest damage makes it inefficient compared to stronger spread attackers like Tapu Koko (Flying Flip), Raichu variants with bench pressure, or more modern spread-focused Pokémon that hit multiple targets without heavy Energy loss. Overall, Ambipom is underpowered for competitive play due to its average damage output, Energy inefficiency, and lack of additional effects, so it would mainly see play in casual or theme-style decks rather than serious tournament lists.
