This card would fit best in a black-green (Golgari) midrange or control deck that aims to grind value over time, especially one built around attrition, removal, and late-game inevitability. The first chapter provides flexible removal, the second and third apply incremental life drain pressure, and the fourth gives a massive 16/16 flying, trampling finisher that can immediately threaten to end the game and disrupt mana by destroying lands on attack, making it ideal for slower decks that can protect it and prolong the game. However, at five mana and requiring multiple turns to realize full value, it competes with more immediately impactful cards like Grave Titan, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, or planeswalkers such as Vraska or Garruk that provide faster or more resilient board impact; even other Sagas like Binding the Old Gods may offer more consistent value.
