About Flourishing Fox

Flourishing Fox, Creature — fox, designed by Ilse Gort first released in Apr, 2020 in the set Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths and was printed exactly in 5 different ways.

A deck that focuses on cycling cards and triggering abilities based on cycling would benefit from including Flourishing Fox in its strategy. This card can be particularly strong in a cycling-themed deck that aims to draw and cycle through cards quickly to trigger various effects. While Flourishing Fox is a solid option for this type of deck, there are potentially better cards to consider, such as Drannith Stinger, which deals damage whenever you cycle a card, providing additional value beyond just gaining +1/+1 counters. Whether Flourishing Fox should see play depends on the specific strategy and synergy within the deck, but it can be a strong inclusion in the right context.

Rules

04/17/20

Some cards with cycling have an ability that triggers when you cycle them, and some cards have an ability that triggers whenever you cycle any card. These triggered abilities resolve before you draw from the cycling ability.

04/17/20

You can cycle a card even if it has a triggered ability from cycling that won’t have a legal target. This is because the cycling ability and the triggered ability are separate. This also means that if either ability is countered (with Disallow, for example), the other ability will still resolve.
