About Disruptor of Currents
Disruptor of Currents, Creature — merfolk wizard, designed by Julie Benbassat first released in Jan, 2026 in the set Lorwyn Eclipsed and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.
Disruptor of Currents fits best in blue tempo or midrange decks that can consistently flood the board with cheap creatures—such as Merfolk tribal, Azorius Soldiers, blue-based tokens, or Simic tempo—because convoke turns your small creatures into mana while flash plus a bounce effect lets you disrupt opponents at instant speed and swing combat or stop a key permanent. It’s strongest in creature-dense shells that want interaction stapled onto a body, especially if you can reuse it with blink effects. However, at five mana (even with convoke) it competes with more efficient options like **Venser, Shaper Savant** (more flexible and harder to interact with), **Brazen Borrower** (cheaper, evasive, and split utility), or **Aether Channeler** (greater versatility for less cost), which are generally stronger in most formats. As a result, Disruptor of Currents is playable in synergy-heavy or budget environments and possibly in Standard-level creature decks, but it’s unlikely to see significant
