This card, Axis of Mortality, could be beneficial in a deck that focuses on life manipulation strategies or decks that aim to win through alternate win conditions such as life total shenanigans. While it can create interesting and unexpected shifts in the game, it may not be the most efficient choice compared to other cards like Felidar Sovereign or Test of Endurance which offer more direct win conditions based on life totals. However, for players looking to add a unique and fun twist to their deck, Axis of Mortality could definitely see play in casual or themed decks.

If a player can’t gain life, that player can’t exchange life totals with a player with a higher life total. If a player can’t lose life, that player can’t exchange life totals with a player with a lower life total. In either of these cases, neither player’s life total will change.

If one of the targeted players is an illegal target when the triggered ability of Axis of Mortality tries to resolve, the exchange won’t happen. Neither player’s life total will change.
