About Spirit Mascot

Spirit Mascot, Creature — spirit ox, designed by Edgar Sánchez Hidalgo first released in Mar, 2026 in the set Secrets of Strixhaven.

Spirit Mascot would fit best in a Boros (red-white) graveyard-synergy or self-recursion deck that consistently exiles or returns cards from its graveyard—using mechanics like flashback, escape, disturb, unearth, aftermath, or effects like Recommission and Sevinne’s Reclamation—so it can reliably grow with +1/+1 counters; it could also work in a more aggressive shell that incidentally uses graveyard value, but it needs steady enablers to be worthwhile. That said, in most competitive formats there are stronger and more efficient threats that either grow faster or provide immediate value, such as Dragon’s Rage Channeler (cheaper and enables graveyard synergy), Tarmogoyf (larger for less setup in eternal formats), or even Luminarch Aspirant (which provides consistent counters without requiring graveyard interaction), making Spirit Mascot somewhat conditional by comparison. Because it doesn’t protect itself, generate value immediately, or have evasion, it would likely be fringe playable at
