Old Hob, Alleycat Blues fits best in a Boros (red‑white) go‑wide tokens or aristocrats-style deck that wants repeatable creature generation to fuel anthem effects, sacrifice outlets, or attack-trigger synergies, since it produces a hasty 2/2 every combat and can protect a key attacking token with indestructible; it works especially well with cards like Impact Tremors, Purphoros, God of the Forge, Anointed Procession, Mondrak, Glory Dominus, or sacrifice payoffs such as Goblin Bombardment. However, at five mana for just a temporary 2/2 each turn, it’s relatively low impact compared to stronger token engines like Hero of Bladehold (which makes multiple permanent tokens and pumps attackers), Adeline, Resplendent Cathar (scales with board presence and costs less), or even Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin in aggressive shells, all of which generate more lasting board pressure for less or comparable mana.
