This Empoleon SF 2 card would benefit a control deck that focuses on disrupting the opponent's energy attachments and reducing damage taken. While it has a unique ability in Emperor Aura, there are potentially better Stage 2 Water-type Pokémon cards with stronger attacks and abilities that may be more effective in competitive play, such as Swampert from the same set. However, Empoleon SF 2 could still see play in certain situations where energy denial and damage reduction are crucial strategies.
