About Aipom PFL 78

Aipom PFL 78, Pokémon - basic, designed by Saboteri first released in Dec, 2025 in the set Phantasmal Flames.

Aipom PFL 78 is a very low-impact Basic that fits best in disruptive, control-style decks that aim to slow the opponent down early by disrupting their hand, since Astonish can randomly shuffle away a key card while doing light chip damage; however, because it only does 20 damage for two Colorless Energy and the disruption is random (and weak compared to targeted hand control), it is generally inefficient and slow for competitive play. Decks that truly want hand disruption are far better off using stronger options like Judge, Iono, Roxanne, or even hand-peeking effects like Delinquent (in older formats), and for Basic Pokémon attackers or utility starters, there are vastly superior choices with better damage, draw, or control effects for the same or lower energy cost. Overall, Aipom PFL 78 is outclassed and would not realistically see play outside of very casual or theme-level decks.
