Molten Note would fit best in a Boros (Red‑White) midrange or control deck that can generate large amounts of mana and leverage the untap clause for explosive combat steps—especially in builds using mana dorks (in non-Standard formats), creatures with tap abilities, or go‑wide token strategies that want to swing, cast this post‑combat, then untap to block or activate abilities again. However, the card is likely too inefficient for competitive play: as removal, it scales with mana invested, meaning you’re often paying 4–6+ mana to kill a single creature, which compares poorly to efficient staples like Lightning Helix, Prismatic Ending, Leyline Binding, or even March of Otherworldly Light depending on format.
