About Blood Curdle

Blood Curdle, Instant, designed by Antonio José Manzanedo first released in Apr, 2020 in the set Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths and was printed exactly in 3 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.

A deck that focuses on aggressive strategies and utilizing creatures with evasion abilities like menace would benefit from including Blood Curdle. This card provides removal for problematic creatures while simultaneously enhancing the offensive capabilities of your own creatures. However, in a competitive setting, other removal spells like Murder or Hero's Downfall may offer more versatile options without the requirement of having a specific type of creature on the battlefield. Blood Curdle could see play in specific decks that can fully leverage its benefits, but its effectiveness may vary depending on the overall strategy and meta-game.

Rules

04/17/20

Blood Curdle targets only one creature: the one that will be destroyed. You choose which creature to put a menace counter on after the target creature has been destroyed.

04/17/20

If the target creature is an illegal target by the time Blood Curdle tries to resolve, the spell won’t resolve. You won’t put a menace counter on any creature. If the target is legal but not destroyed (most likely because it has indestructible), you do put a menace counter on a creature you control.
