This Nidoking ex card could benefit a Darkness-type acceleration deck that aims to quickly power up high damage attackers using energy acceleration cards like Dark Patch, Max Elixir, or Darkness Energy. While its Tainted Horn attack can inflict heavy damage and Poison, the high Retreat Cost and vulnerability to Fighting-type Pokémon may limit its effectiveness in the current metagame. There may be better Stage 2 dark-type Pokémon cards available with more versatile attacks and utility abilities, so Nidoking ex may not be a top priority for competitive play.
