Blex, Vexing Pest (the correct name) is best suited for a Golgari (black-green) lifegain–counters deck that goes wide with tribal synergies—especially Pests (like those from *Strixhaven*), but also Insects, Spiders, Snakes, and Bats—since it turns every instance of life gain into permanent team-wide growth; it works particularly well with repeatable life gain such as Blood Artist–style effects, lifelink creatures, or Pest death triggers. However, it’s generally a synergy piece rather than a competitive staple: in most formats, cards like **Conclave Mentor**, **Hardened Scales**, or **Winding Constrictor** are more efficient counter enablers, and dedicated lifegain payoffs like **Voice of the Blessed** or **Ajani’s Pridemate** grow faster and require less tribal commitment; even within Golgari counters shells, cards such as **Corpsejack Menace** often provide stronger immediate impact.
