However, there are better options available such as Primeval Titan, which provides immediate value upon entering the battlefield by searching for lands, making it a more efficient choice for ramp strategies. Allosaurus Rider may not see much play in competitive decks due to its high mana cost and the availability of stronger alternatives.

If you don’t have two cards of the right color in your hand, you can’t choose to cast the spell using the alternative cost.

Paying the alternative cost doesn’t change when you can cast the spell. A creature spell you cast this way, for example, can still only be cast during your main phase while the stack is empty.
