A red aggressive deck in Magic: the Gathering would benefit from including Torrent of Stone, as it provides efficient removal for a low cost. However, there are better options available such as Lightning Bolt or Burst Lightning, which offer more versatility and can target players as well. While Torrent of Stone can be situationally useful with its splice ability, it may not be a top choice for competitive play unless the deck specifically focuses on Arcane spells.

A card with a splice ability can’t be spliced onto itself because the spell is on the stack (and not in your hand) when you reveal the cards you want to splice onto it.

If all of the spell’s targets are illegal when the spell tries to resolve, it won’t resolve and none of its effects will happen.

You can sacrifice any two lands that have the subtype Mountain to splice Torrent of Stone onto an Arcane spell, not just lands named Mountain.
