Mikaeus, the Unhallowed would be a great addition to a mono-black zombie tribal deck, providing powerful synergies with other non-Human creatures by granting them undying and a +1/+1 boost, while also deterring attacks with intimidate. However, for a more competitive edge, cards like Gravecrawler or Gray Merchant of Asphodel might be better choices due to their immediate impact on the board or game-ending potential, respectively. Mikaeus could see play in casual or themed decks, but may not be as efficient in highly competitive environments.

Any damage dealt to you by a Human will cause Mikaeus’s ability to trigger, including noncombat damage dealt to you by a Human and damage dealt to you by a Human you control.

If a non-Human creature you control without a +1/+1 counter dies at the same time as Mikaeus, that creature’s undying ability granted by Mikaeus triggers and will return it to the battlefield.
