A deck focused on tribal synergy, such as Elves or Merfolk, would benefit from using Luminescent Rain in Magic: the Gathering. While the card provides a decent life gain effect, there are stronger options available like Essence Warden or Soul Warden, which offer consistent life gain without the restriction of choosing a creature type. Overall, Luminescent Rain may not see competitive play due to its limited impact compared to other life gain options in the format.

Note that this spell counts the number of permanents you control of the chosen type, not just the number of creatures you control. It will also take your tribal permanents into account.
