A control deck focused on limiting opponents' noncreature spells would benefit from using Lavinia, Azorius Renegade in a metagame where opponents rely heavily on high mana value noncreature spells. While Lavinia can be effective in certain matchups, there are potentially better options like Teferi, Time Raveler or Meddling Mage that offer more versatile control abilities. Whether Lavinia should see play depends on the specific deck strategy and the current metagame dynamics.

Players may cast spells that they know Lavinia will counter. Any abilities that trigger when spells are cast will trigger and resolve if appropriate, and any effects that count spells cast will count those spells if appropriate.
