A deck that focuses on ramping up mana quickly and has a high density of land cards would benefit from including Trench Gorger, as it can potentially become a massive creature with trample. However, in competitive Magic: the Gathering play, there are likely better options for a 6 mana cost creature that can have a more immediate impact on the game or provide better value over time. Trench Gorger could see play in more casual or thematic decks that revolve around land manipulation or big creatures.
