Rat King, Pale Piper would shine in an aristocrats-style mono-black or Rakdos sacrifice deck that wants creatures to die for value, since it turns every nontoken creature leaving the battlefield (including being sacrificed, bounced, or blinked) into replacement Rat tokens while also converting excess tokens into card draw; it synergizes especially well with cards like Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Bastion of Remembrance, Pitiless Plunderer, and sacrifice outlets such as Viscera Seer or Ashnod’s Altar, creating strong grindy engines in Commander or casual formats. However, at four mana (3B), it competes with more efficient or impactful engines like Grim Haruspex, Midnight Reaper, Morbid Opportunist, or even Ophiomancer, which generate card advantage more directly or immediately, and cards like Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia or Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder can produce tokens more efficiently; in higher-powered formats it would likely be too slow, but in Commander—especially Rat tribal
