Abattoir Ghoul would be a valuable addition to a black-based aggressive deck looking to gain life and maintain board control. Its ability to grant life equal to the toughness of creatures it deals damage to can be particularly effective against decks with high-toughness creatures. However, in a competitive setting, cards like Vampire Nighthawk or Gifted Aetherborn may be more versatile options due to their additional abilities such as flying and lifelink, making them potentially better choices depending on the overall strategy of the deck. Abattoir Ghoul could still see play in certain metagames or casual decks where its specific abilities are well-suited.
