This card could be beneficial in a deck that focuses on controlling the board by turning your opponent's noncreature artifacts into creatures to either attack or block. However, there are better options available like Karn, the Great Creator or Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge that provide more versatile and powerful effects in artifact-based decks. Xenic Poltergeist may not see much play in competitive settings due to its limited utility compared to other cards with similar abilities.
