Worldly Counsel would benefit a five-color deck that aims to control a variety of basic land types to maximize its effect. While this card can be useful in such a deck, a potentially better alternative could be Collected Company, which allows you to put two creature cards with converted mana cost 3 or less onto the battlefield. However, Worldly Counsel could still see play in certain strategies that rely on card selection and have access to multiple basic land types.

The basic land types are Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain, and Forest. Land types other than basic land types (such as Desert) don’t contribute to domain abilities.

How many lands you control of a particular basic land type is irrelevant to a domain ability, as long as that number is greater than zero. As far as domain is concerned, ten Forests is the same as one Forest.
