A Golgari graveyard recursion deck would benefit from including Host of the Hereafter as it provides value by transferring its counters to other creatures upon death, effectively allowing for a continuous growth of creatures on the battlefield. However, a card like Varolz, the Scar-Striped might be a better option due to its ability to scavenge, providing immediate benefit upon creatures' death. Host of the Hereafter could still see play in specific decks looking to maximize counter synergies.
